Sofyan Zahalka is a photographer and a short documentary filmmaker.
He was born in 1987 in a small village called Kafr-Qara near Haifa, Israel, and obtained a diploma in Photography and Design from the Faculty of Engineering at the Handasaim Technion in Haifa in 2008. Furthermore, he finished Studio Photography studies at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa 2019.
Sofyan’s professional life started in the field of photography and editing since 2010. He photographed many subjects and has distinguished himself from others by portraying people from a humanitarian perspective. In recent years, he worked on many projects, the most important of which have been architecture photography, food photography, jewelry photography, editorial fashion and photography of a model depicting a story with a chain scenario.
His admiration for photography short films on his YouTube channel where he made documentaries about many tourist sites in his relatively long visit for Berlin.
Moreover, during his career, he edited and hosted a radio program on Radio of Netanya. He worked as a Presenter for an educational radio program for three years as well. He also presented the “On Air Arabia” program, which discusses the most important topics covered in the weekly news. In the past ten years, he worked for many TV channels, the most recent of which is the Israeli Broadcasting Authority TV. What is more, he worked as a teacher in the field of photography for two years at a school for students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), which led to a fundamental change in their approach to their lives, from both an educational and a social point of view. He helped those students reach remarkable progress in the level of academic achievement and helped stimulate their creative thinking capabilities. This substantial impact was tremendous proof of the success of this educational project under the supervision of the Ministry of Education.
Besides all, Sofyan participated in many exhibitions locally in Israel and around the world, such as the one done for Carmel Fire in 2016, also he filmed a project called “Listen, Observe, Speak” which talks about existence and the dual life of many nationalities and that has been presented in many places, including the Jagiellonian University in Poland in 2014.
